I am always looking for something new to do during the winter months here in Ohio. I found this chair at the side of the curb (lucky me) and decided to bring it home. I put it on the porch but it needed a seat so I thought to myself, why not buy some material and try making my own! Now, remember this is my first attempt at doing this so be kind! It only took me about 2 hours to do, the hardest part was cutting the material and making sure it fit across the chair. My next venture would be to find a small chair and see what I can do with that! I don't think it came out to bad for my first time, what do you think?

Firkin makeover
If you have been following my blog, you read from my last posting of my great finds. One of those finds was an old firkin that I brought back to life with my sanding, painting and distressing! Voila! I just love it and I think I paid $1.00 for it! These old firkins go from anywhere from $30.00-$60.00 on ebay or at a flea market!

Ohio Pickers Dream
In Ohio the garage sales come to an end with the cold weather coming but my friend and I found a great sale this past weekend. It was in a old wharehouse that use to have flea markets for over 20 years! This stuff was all over the place, in boxes, bags...in every room their was treasures that had not been touched for years! It was truly a pickers dream. For three solid hours, we went through stuff after stuff! Things were going CHEAP!! Old farm tables of all sizes, industrial cabinets, unusual industrial carts, furniture, crocks, wire baskets, old yarn spindals, you name it, it was there, you just had to get down and pick your way through piles of stuff! If I had an old farm house, I could of filled it with the massive primitive cupboards that were there! Old doors with such character going for only $3.00! I wish I had a big uhaul and a place to store the stuff, I could of had a lot of neat primitive stuff! Never did we ever imagine finding the stuff we did! I found these old wire baskets I love to use in closets to store shoes, sweaters, blankets etc...they even have such character I like to use them in a kitchen for potatoes, onions..you get the picture I am sure. I was in heaven when I came across this old tool cabinet, it had over 35 drawers for only $30.00! Notice the firkin on top, I found, it has an old drawing on it, these things go for around 35.00-50.00 on ebay! The old thread spools I like to place in jars or just display! The small farm table looks so cute on my front porch with all my fall decor, it was only $5.00 and I love the primitive paint already on it!

My new interests
My interests are changing all the time. I am now into old vintage children's clothes, I have hung them with my linens on my apple ladder and I love it, there was such detail back then with girl's little dresses and clothing then with today's styles. I also found this little vintage red wagon, which was only $2.00 and is adorable on the porch with fall flowers and pumpkins! Any old chenille spreads or quilts I am getting into to put into a cabinet or stack on top. When I think I have everything, something new catches my eye and I start collecting all over again. That is why I love to go to estate sales.
